I started investing in the Canadian markets almost 30 years ago in 1989. Since then, my primary employment was working as an engineer for 20 years but my true passion was and has always been the stock market and specifically, Canadian stock portfolio Canadian small cap stocks and micro cap stocks. I left work in 2010 and have been trading stocks full time ever since. From the time I left work, I have been studying the technical side of the market in greater detail and over the years I have learned what works and what doesn’t. I have developed some of my own technical indicators and have combined these with more tradition methods to get an edge on the market.
I have always felt that a real time trading portfolio, dealing primarily with Canadian small cap stocks, was something that was missing on the internet and as such, Canadian small cap stocks I decided to start this site on Aug 6, 2018.
Each year the Canadian Stock Portfolio (CSPortfolio) starts with $100,000 in cash on Jan 1 (excluding the maiden year of 2018 which started on Aug 6th). I use a proprietary technical analysis method developed by myself along with more traditional technical analysis methods to select and trade stocks for the portfolio. Canadian small cap portfolio The CSPortfolio aims to outperform Canadian and US markets and performance is provided above compared against the TSX Composite and S&P500.
The portfolio trades primarily small cap stocks and micro cap stocks listed on Canadian exchanges; however, all securities listed on Canadian exchanges may be purchased including large cap stocks and leveraged and inverse ETFs. Canadian small cap portfolio The limits on position sizes are 10% of portfolio value for individual stocks; however, ETFs may be purchased up to 20% of the portfolio value. These maximum limits apply at the time of purchase but may be exceeded as a result of capital appreciation.
